Audio only record - possible?

Hi!

First at all I like to say hello!
Secound: I've found this: http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=4761.0 and this: http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Talk:Suggestions while looking for the answer, but I'm still not sure.

So, the question is: "Is there any way to record audio only using CHDK? Without record a whole movie."

I guess - not. I know, that some cameras can record short audio files as "comments", but it's not enough. And I can see, that my SX 130 IS can't even do this. So - any workaround using CHDK?

If there is no way to do this using current release of CHDK, is there somebody working on it?

Thank you for reading this long, 'dirty-englished' post, as well as for the answers.

(I am sure that it is possible to demux and delete video after recording by program, but need port of some demuxer......)

You need to port demuxer to camera? It would be probably really slow... The part of the DIGIC processor that CHDK can controll is a slow unit, mostly responsible for key presses, on screen display and such simple stuff. Directly  we can do little or nothing that is related to digital signal processing chip which is rather fast core.

So you'd probably rather want to extract the audio on PC.

The point of the thread was mainly to disable the lens extending to make video (audio?) recording without opening the lens.

Regards:)
