    350d stays blank

    Hi!

I got a mayor problem with my 350d using CHDK. I installed everything and it all worked pretty fine. 4 Days ago I copied the CHDK on another CF Card and tried it on my camera.
After putting it in, the orange an the blue led lit for a short time as usual. But the upper display produced strange output. No number of pictures left. Just the shutter time when i tried to make a photo. But taking a picture didn't work too. I turned the camera off an switched it on again.
Unfortunately now all i get is the 2 leds blinking as usual and that's it. Nothing else. Nothing on the Displays and no effect when pushing any button.
After putting the CF-card back to the computer, it moaned, that the filesystem was corrupted.

    I tried:
-leaving it without any batteries for 2 days but it still won't work.
-use user CF Cards with and without CHDK
-putting the original firmware on the card and start the camera

Can anybody help me solving this problem? Just bought me some new accessories for the cam....

    Thx for your help

Maybe filesystem on the other CF-Card was already "corrupt" which cause this strang behavior.

    Does camera start without CF-Card?
Does your computer detect the camera if you connect USB cable?

Maybe camera does now start in Producttest mode only.
    Maybe Hardware error.

    Hi!

Camera doesn't start without CF-Card and the computer doesn't detect it either.

What is the Producttest mode and how is it possible to end this?

Nobody any suggestions to end this horror?
Any possibility to hard-reset the camera?

Did you read the complete 350d development thread ? http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=4202.0

Several people had serious problem, which AFAIK they were unable to resolve. The warning on the 350D wiki page exists for a reason. As far as I know these were all related to incompatible firmware versions on the camera. Your symptom doesn't sound exactly the same, but I don't have any DSLRs so I don't follow this closely.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

I didn't read the whole Thread but most of it.
My firmware wasn't the problem. It all worked perfectly until I screwed it up using a card with corrupted file-system. From this moment on nothing worked anymore.
Is there a possibility to do a forced reset during startup with CHDK?

Have you checked CF slot for bent pins?

Yes, just checked. No bent pins.

insert the cf card to the card reader and write other version of the hack.
The au_courant version from page 21 should solve your problems (you probably use the one with 23 or 24 config items from 2010 10 11 )

Thx, I'll try it, when I'm back home and post what happened.
