Magnify in Live View

Hi!
I'm a new user of CHDK and I'm using my IXUS 960IS/SD950 hooked up to an spotting scope.
Is there a possibility to have:

1. The live view magnified by say, 5x or 8x or even 10x?
2. Focus confirm without half-pressing the shutterbutton

The idea is to set the focus in camera to infinity and then use the focus control on the spotting scope to "tune in" exact focus.
The best thing would also be if the camera could confirm focus with the "green square" and a beep.
Well it sounds to good to me, but if it IS possible things would be really simpler for digiscoping.

Sorry if this has been up to discussing but I searched the forum for "magnify" without any success.

//Thanks Johan

Hello and welcome Johan.

An alternative method is to set camera focus to about 250mm, focus the 'scope and then take a focus-bracketed sequence.
Your subject may be moving anyway, even by a small amount, enough to lose focus.

No, but as I said the magnification is so big and the depth-of-field so small not many subjects will be still enough for the focus to remain constant.

I have seen digiscope images where a birds eye is in perfect focus and the feathers halfway down its body are out-of-focus (at the instant the photo is taken).
