How can I make custom video effects? I want them to appear on the LCD viewfinder in real time. For example: a horizontal flip of the sensor image. Or an effect where the hue of the colors are constantly shifting. The camera already does things like this, but they're not as cool (sepia, black&white, etc). I'm not interested in adding effects post-production, because I'm using the camera with video goggles for trippy experiences. Thanks!

Horizontal flip is probably not possible with current knowledge. Some sort of color manipulation was done here http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=2941.0 but do note that you'll need to search the RAM address from firmware disassembly (and that Canon may have changed things so that it can't be found the way it was back then for those cameras) and that it may not work as well as you hope.

Another way could be to investigate where DNG gets its WB coefficients and to try writing there to see what happens.
