Image Stabilization device reading ?!

Assisted by GPS feed, I will position the camera in space but also, I would like to catch spatial orientation relatively to that GPS point.

The objective is to collate these data to form a 3D view of a building per example.

Is it possible to have reading of image stabilization device ?

Yes IS status can be read, see http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=1365.msg12384 and threads that refer to that as answers to people asking about it ;)

AFAIK nobody's investigated this since Dataghost's experiments, but working on it should be easier now than ever before thanks to CHDK PTP and native calls and peek/poke in Lua.

Thanks for the encouragements Fudgey.

I still have to learn about native calls and event procs.

My principal difficulty is to learn "how these work?" to be able to diagnose and interpret results correctly.

In dgmod.c, there are near 50 _Get functions that I have to understand and to evaluate pertinence, AND to establish if they will work on my A650is.

A lot of "undocumented features", or may be ...

http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Lua/Lua_Reference/Native_Function_Calls might be a good place to start. Also reading some lua scripts that make use of these calls wouldn't hurt (reyalp has written examples you can find by following links in the wiki, and e.g. my video mode manual control script and its development versions show some syntax for various native calls too, see http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=5295.0). Discussion related to Canon basic is also of interest because eventprocs are available there too.

Yep, there's a lot to try... Dataghost was able to pick a few useful ones and his demos worked fine on my a570 so they are fairly likely to be similar in a650 too since it's from roughly the same era.
