Don't disable the bootflag, just update Canon firmware with it enabled, it will stay there.

ohhhhhhhhh... I thought I had to disable it before because of this procedure ectagen had given before (and no other procedure was given...)
Turn bootflags off, update to 1.0.9, replace *.bin, turn bootflag on 8)

I've removed the boot flag with EOScard, updating Canon, replace the *. bin and reactivate the boot flag with EOScard.

it is possible that between the steps I remove the battery, I do not recall more, maybe it changes something ...

Ahhh it finally worked..  I actually used ectaVgen's  50D_109.fir to re-enable the bootflag on the camera AFTER updating my camera to 1.0.9 ..

but from what alex says.. yous can actually leave the bootflag enabled from 1.0.8 to 1.0.9 so not needing the 109.fir !  thank you guys!!

I see many new features (or gui changes) in the latest version.. its much more usable.. great :)

I will try to have time to play around with ectaVgen's ubuntu image and compile my own soon!

When I say about bootflag I mean EOScard :)

I had no issues before, but recently when I switch to Live View the screen updates super slowly (once a second?), and is usually overblown - so not usable for manual focusing anymore. It looks like some sort of exposure simulation is on (even though it is off in the settings). I am at 1.0.9, have just copied the official files on the card, and then copied over the most recent autoexec.bin posted here - still the same problem.

Am I doing something wrong? Should I use some non-official files when using autoexec.bin from this thread?

Thanks in advance!

New *.bin is now available :)
Let`s test it out!

Check FalceColor is off.

No, all the special settings (including False Color) were off. But I found a solution: I simply deleted the "magic.cfg" file on my card (so everything was set to the default values) - and voila, exposure simulation is now disabled (I get the crossed ExpSim label in the right bottom corner), so Live View works as it should (fast refresh rate, not overblown). Also, zooming in in play mode now works much faster.
