I can't understand what you can't understand... :)
50D owners (like everybody else) want more functions in their camera.
The camera's hardware capable to do lot more thing but Canon doesn't give them anything which improve an old camera -> you have to buy a new one.
Unfortunately the 50D owners have to swap to the more expensive 7D if they want to upgrade because the 60D is a different (lower) category.
The development has just started (far from success) I'm sure the camera owners and the developers will figure out lots of useful new functions for the 50D.

I thought the FW's cracking meant that new functions were available already.
Is there hope for a video mode or we have no chance to get it?
Even 24p at 1280*720 would be awesome.

In terms of techonological evolution "a while" translates to never, am i right?
So, what are the possible enhancements that could be enabled on the 50D if you guys say there isn't really a video option?

Advanced AEB, Advanced Auto ISO, Time lapse, Slit scan, two press Bulb mode, remap buttons (e.g MLU), you name it...
Anything which makes the camera a better tool.

In LiveView, you can use zebras / focus peaking / false color...

Also focus stacking, trap focus, silent pictures (e.g. for timelapse without wearing the shutter... or it already does that?)

I'm playing with chuchin's ML version...
In LV mode the camera works normally (more or less), I can take photos, change any settings, display the images (delete doesn't work).
Until the ML menu shows on the LCD the f number, the shutter speed and the ISO values are flashing, but after ML menu showed it's OK even with ML menu off. (LV off, LV on makes them flashing again)
