Movie mode is just a setting (like ISO and others). The camera saves these settings at shutdown.

My question was if you get ERR99 with the latest ML source (and if yes, what are the steps to reproduce the error).

I re-flashed the firmware to 108 then i made a factory reset and i take out the backup battery and the movie is still on...
I'm triing to reproduce the err...

update:I have re-flashed the firmware with 108 again...No more video...And now err99 and no more ml menu...

My question is...if the fir file is used only (with 107 firm) to enable the 50d to execute the autoexec.bin file then the problem is that the bin file write something in the nvram! If i flash the firm and erase the video function but i have still the err99...well...there is something that the bin change that is not erased with flashing the firm...

When err99 you must do a clear setting and no more err 99...

So you fixed err99 by factory reset?

Here it goes. Im using the autoexec given to me by ilgucio. I used the .fir, flashed 0.8, and used a card with ML autoexec. Enabled movie mode. But, I would randomly get err99. (yah I know, nothing in programing is random). It was always when I tried to take a shot. Sometimes the first [admin: avoid swearing please] /*edit: shot :-[*/ after I turned it on, sometimes 10-15 shots in. Power cycling the camera would fix said error. Last weekend I was doing a event, I was running and gunning, and did not need err99 at some critical time. So I used non ML cards. Well on Sunday I went macro and bird shooting, and I used LV for the first time since I stoped using ML cards. Well guess what? No err99, and movie mode is still there.

Also of note is when I first installed ML. I tried bracketing, focus stacking, and a few other still related things. All if them locked the meter, the meter would simply not turn on. Taking out the battery fixed this.

Hopefully this helps. Keep up the great work.
Matthew

If you run "clear all camera settings", the movie mode is still there?

If not, go to LiveView function setting (not sure what's the exact name in 50D) and change that setting.

This setting is:
- 0: LiveView disabled
- 1: LiveView enabled (photo only)
- 2: LiveView enabled (photo and video)

From Canon menu, you can only set 0 and 1. When you select movie recording, Magic Lantern toggles between 1 (movie off) and 2 (movie on). It also changes a setting called MovieSize (this lets you record for more than 5 seconds). That's all it does for enabling video.

That setting is saved to NVRAM by Canon firmware.

Well...may be i have found the problem...if i put in the card all the ml files the err get up...i copied only the autoexec and font files and 'till now no err...
Yes...the first reflash with 108 and clear setting to factory default produced no effect on the movie capability...the second reflash and re-clear wiped out the movie mode...
But if you get the err 99 you must do a factory reset otherwise you will get err99 forever...And the startup time is loooooonger with the bootflag enabled...

Has anybody got any clue about the cable that broke inside my 50D?
You can see the pictures 2 pages back. The camera is working fine, i tried everything and it never fails or gives error in respect to that fault. What is that wire doing?

After some experiment i noticed that the problem of err99 is (in my case) memory card depending...if i use a sd to cf adapter with ml on it the camera movie rec is working fine but after few seconds a bar on the right of the screen grow up and the recording stop itself(slow transfer rate) and if i try to make a photo i have the err99...if i use the kingston cf card i have the err issue...

Just be easy with that cable, it is connected to the bottom part of the board and it is very fragile because it's thin. Don't twist or bend it too much.
If you want, do a couple of pictures of the underside of the camera:)
