First test successful (version string set to 1.0.8-ml-2011Aug15).

Next step is to check the modified GUI task, then enable ML menu, then enable other modules one by one.

I believe the FIR is also safe to run.

The bootflag is like an on /reception off switch to tell the camera to run an autoexec.bin file if it detects the cf card is bookable. This autoexec.bin file is what all of the magic lantern code is compiled into.

Hi,
I followed the instructions given in this post :
http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=6161.msg71618#msg71618

however, it doesn't seem to work... :(

My 50d is under firmware 1.08 (I previously set the bootflag under fir 1.07), I compiled the firmware using sources from the previous link and put the autoexec.bin on my CF (which is bootable). All I get is a black screen and a 50d that seems freezed...
Did I do something wrong?

I follow this thread with a great interest!
Thank you for all this work!

Just to be sure you compiled correctly:

Code: [Select]
hg clone -r unified https://bitbucket.org/hudson/magic-lantern
cd magic-lantern/platform/50D.108/
make

Edit: menu works!

You may also need the fonts file.

Ok, that's clear. So the autoexec.bin doesn't yet contain ML stuff?

When you enabled the bootflag with a fir file (just use the update function in the camera) - remove the .fir file from the card and make it bootable with "EOScard". Now you officially upgrade to 1.08 - the bootflag stays set.
Now you are able to run autoexecs from this bootable cards.
The ML runs from this autoexecs. These autoexecs are in a early state on 50D - Alex did a excellent job so far .. here is some menu on the 50D:
