I've been testing the HDMI playback of my Canon IXUS 100. When in NTSC mode it outputs a 1080i, 29.97 FPS, 8-bit signal, When set to PAL mode it outputs 1080i, 25 FPS, 8-bit signal. (this information is auto detected by the AJA control panel).
It's obviously upscaling the 1280x720P movies to 1920x1080i, so it's compatible with HD TV's.
What I can't work out is how it's outputting 30P via the 1080i25 mode?
What do we know about the HDMi output, is it programmable? Could we change the output to 720P, (which would be more compatible with the 30P HD movies).
