first off, i just wanna say that you're doing one hell of a job.

but i had a question....

how did you do that time lapse star thing with chdk?
Thank you for the most amusing question of the month .. maybe of the year.  I can't even begin to explain to you why this is funny so I'll just leave you with some links to "time lapse star things".

Hello Everyone,
Just a quick question:

How do i change the EV (on CHDK) without enabling the "Fast EV Switch" thing on the CHDK Menu?
I have done some test using the camera default camera EV controls (Up button - P Mode), and it doesn't seems to take any effect, even if i put -2 EV steps on it i still get the same bright image i would get with it on 0 EV stops. Its kinda complicated to switch the EVs when you enable the "Fast EV Switch" because it changes without disabling the camera controls, i mean, when i'm setting it the camera is also browsing through the countdown options (2s, 10s) on the background (DOWN button). Same thing happens with the UP button.

It sounds like maybe the camera is compensating by adjusting the ISO? I know w/ the neutral density filter cameras I usually lock down the ISO and the EV. Anyway this page explains how CHDK works with cameras that have ND filters: http://hackcanon.com/camera-tricks/exposure/overrides/

Can someone confirm whether the current build can generate correct RAW (that is, CRW) files, as I'm unable to open them with RawTherapee, iRaw or IrfanView, either with the default .CRW extension, or renamed to .RAW or .CR2. DNG mode does work, but I accidentally had the camera set to RAW mode without DNG on a recent journey and I'd like to retrieve the raw photos if possible. If anyone uses CRW format, what software are you using?

If the DNG files are good then the camera can almost certainly generate correct RAW images.  The last link on the post referenced below might be of some help (in addition to the explanation in the post itself) :

Awesome Work. Thanx for bringing CHDK to A2200. i have used chdk1.0 as well as 1.1.
I have encountered a problem on the latest build  CHDK-a2200-100d-1.1.0_BETA, motion detect scripts to not work
"failed to load mdetect.flt. bad import symbol" then camera stops responding, no buttons work, then after 5-6 seconds its crashes. i also saw something about chdk mismatch with one of motion detection scripts.
