Recently saw mention of Focus Photoeditor  http://www.nwspro.com/fp.htm

Checked support and lists RAW support for CHDK cameras http://www.nwspro.com/raw_list.htm

Checked the forum to see if any comments but found nothing.

Anyone have experience with Focus Photoeditor?

Most probably this app uses Dave Coffin's DCRAW for RAW support, as many other apps...

Decided to checkout Focus Photoeditor 6.3.2 and liked the look, feel, operation, and results of the app. Like @fe50, I also think it might be built around the DCRAW engine, but I wasn't able to confirm that. The app has nice documentation in the Help section. It also is able to use various plugins from powerful apps such as PhotoShop and others.

I have tested several of the Windows DCRAW spinoffs, and this one "felt" more mature and easier to use than most.

Normally I use PhotoShop and similar apps, so that means I have needed to use DNG files for my RAW processing. Using Focus Photoeditor 6.3.2 with the CHDK CRW & CR2 RAW formats was no problem. When opening the CRW, CR2 and DNG formats the user might see noticeable color differences, especially using shots taken under non-daylight conditions such as tungsten lighting. For example, the CRW & CR2 colors were similar but quite different from the DNG. The CRW & CR2 formats read the files as 4032x3024 pixels, 24 bits of color, and 72x72 dpi; the DNG format was 4008x3012 pixels, 24 bits of color, and 72x72 dpi.

Focus Photoeditor 6.3.2 appears to be another application I'll use for processing photos.

With Focus Photoeditor were you able to easily correct/match the CHDK RAW photo with the corresponding in camera Canon JPG?   

If so can you save these modifications for future CHDK RAW photos under similar lighting conditions?

Saw mention on the website  "The very gem of Focus Photoeditor, is the "Quick-Fix" algorithm. It allows anyone, including the beginners, to correct their photos with a single click." 

Really hope something like this will work for CHDK RAW photos.

I have had a lot of problems trying to correct CHDK RAW photos to match the corresponding Canon JPGs!

This was fairly easy using the "White Balance/Temperature" option.

Appears so using "Options", "Program", "RAW - Keep last settings" & "Save Dialog". There is also mention of profiles, but I haven't used Focus enough yet to check any further. [/quote]

The "Quick Fix" option works similar to PhotoShop "Auto Levels". And as in PhotoShop, the "quick Fix" will not automatically correct white balance problems. There is an "Auto White Balance" option, however I didn't try this option since I prefer to control the white balance changes myself.

I usually use RAW to correct JPGs settings that the Canon firmware gets confused about.
