Experience with RAW Lens Correction Software?

Will be doing some architecture photos.

Am starting to search concerning "Lens Correction Software" because have noticed my distortion at widest range.

Came across this "Best results occur when applying lens correction to RAW files. When you apply lens correction to a non-RAW file, you don't always get the expected results. Results vary because the data in non-RAW files changes depending on how the file was created." http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/846/cpsid_84666.html

Did a quick forum search for both "RAW Lens Correction Software" and "Lens Correction Software" but found nothing.

Am interested in any comments concerning RAW Lens Correction Software.

Thanks

Ken

Bonjour KenO,

When I have only one picture and would like to recover parallelism for architecture purpose, I use Autopano with spherical projection.

That soft permit me to edit vertical lines. To do so, I "autopano" the original and a copy, and then edit the "pano".

Thanks for the tip

Do you have any links to before after photos that you have used "Autopano with spherical projection."?

There is a nice "before and after" photo from the "Autopano Giga" web pages at http://www.kolor.com/image-stitching-software-autopano-giga-geometry-correction.html  that shows how their software can be used to recover parallelism for architecture.

Here is a direct link to that photo: http://www.kolor.com/images/stories/solutions/panorama-software/autopano/features/geometry/autopano-vertical-lines.jpg

I've used a number of pano apps, but found Autopano Giga to be the most useful to me.

Bonjour Lebeau,

Thank you for the links and comments!  Will try it.

The thing I have found comparing Lens Correction Profile is  http://frontallobbings.blogspot.com/2011/01/comparing-lens-correction-profile.html  Also PT Lens is not RAW for Windows only Mac http://epaperpress.com/ptlens/

Have you found any comparison postings?

Thanks again for all your help!

Bonjour Lebeau,

Forgot to ask which of your single photos on http://www.panoramio.com/user/3088628 were made using "When I have only one picture and would like to recover parallelism for architecture purpose, I use Autopano with spherical projection."

Thanks again for your help!

Here is the original

Autopano's spherical projection

Autopano's spherical and realign verticals

Is it clear?

Bonjour Lebeau,

Merci Beaucoup!

From reading Comparing Lens Correction Profile Software  http://frontallobbings.blogspot.com/2011/01/comparing-lens-correction-profile.html  am wondering how Autopano with spherical projection compares with DxO as to how much of the original image is lost?  This was something I never thought about until I saw the comparison Lens Correction photos.

Thanks again for all your help!

Ken

In the link you notice, the original photo has a lot of chromatic aberation. Autopano would not correct this chromatic aberation but could if it exist an Autopano Lens profile as per:

http://www.kolor.com/image-stitching-software-autopano-giga-geometry-correction.html

and this 2007 pdf file
