I just recently heard about CHDK, and I wanted to know if I can run that program on my SD780 and if so, how?
I read upload instructions on here through many forums, but I have yet to download the program and I don't know if there is a CHDK for my camera. Reading through other sites & forums I've stumbled across this link http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php/topic,3995.msg37547.html#msg37547 each time and I see there are download links but I'm confused about which link I should be downloading is the Firmware stated in this topic what I need to install to get CHDK? I also tried to go to the http://mighty-hoernsche.de/ site but every time I've tried my browser fails to open the page. I use a mac running snow leopard (10.6.7) and neither Firefox or Safari are able to open this page.

If anyone out there can help me out with finding where I can download the program for my SD780 it would be greatly appreciated. I have been desperately trying for a week without any progress.

CHDK is available for the IXUS 100 / SD780 with firmware version 1.00C in beta state.
First you need to check your camera's firmware version: http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ#Q._How_can_I_get_the_original_firmware_version_number_of_my_camera.3F

When entering the code in the terminal to change the format on my card, is asks me that if I misuse it that will cause the deletion of important files, etc.

Does that mean files on my SD card or my computer?

It means the 'disk' that you've identified - which SHOULD be the card, but might be an external disk drive if you've made a mistake. Why not use my SDMInst app (since you're using a Mac) - it's much less error-prone. Despite its name it will install CHDK as well as SDM.

I used ACID, and unfortunately, I guess there is no CHDK for my point and shoot because it's firmware is 100b.

That's some disappointing news. :[

Thanks for all the help though! If I ever get a new point and shoot, I'll definitely use all the information provided.
