Hi
When I use a canon 270EX flash on my G12, shortly after switching the flash on the display goes black and the camera refuses to respond. Lens stays extended but pressing the view button results in it starting up again. Sometimes get 1 or 2 shots in before the crash.  No such problem when CHDK deactivated.

Can you provide more information please:
- what version of CHDK?
- what firmware version on your camera?
- what mode on the camera dial (Auto, P, Tv, etc)?
- what camera settings (RAW, continuous, WB, etc)?
- what CHDK settings (RAW settings, overrides, OSD, etc)?

If you are using the version from the autobuild server then please try my most recent version (Beta8) from http://code.google.com/p/chdk-g12/downloads/list

My beta version should also allow you to dump a romlog after the camera crashes. Restart the camera without the flash mounted then run the 'romlog.lua' script in the scritps/test directory. After the script has run post the ROMLOG.LOG file from the SD card here.

Thanks Phil
Loaded the current build (was using 1017 from January) and appears to be working a charm now.
While I'm at it just want to say I've been using CHDK for a few years now and would like to acknowledge the effort the CHDK community puts into it - highly appreciated :-)
Howard
