Yes.

Learning programming just to get a CHDK port is probably not a very sensible use of your time. It's not something you'll pick up in a few days.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

Picked up a good deal on an A1200 this weekend.  I was looking for a "disposable camera" to leave in the car or briefcase that will run CHDK.  Field replaceable AA batteries were a requirement - buy more as needed as I expect the  intermittent use of the camera would result in dead Li-ion batteries everytime I needed them.

So I've completed a port of the source code for the 1.00a and 1.00c firmware versions. I'll have to see what the USPS brings on Wednesday this week.  If its a newer firmware version, adding it should be painless.

If anyone watching this thread is still interested in a port for their A1200 and willing to test beta versions, please send me a personal message (PM) via this forum with your firmware version and a real email address.  I'll notify you of new alpha/beta versions for testing quite a bit before posting them here for broader distribution.

Happy days with CHDK are here for A1200 owners I hope !!

Update 1 :   got my camera today.  A quick check with ACID tells me its a 1.00C firmware version.  As a bonus,  I notice it has a DC input jack - no fake wooden batteries for this camera !

Four volunteers have come forward to help test and they all also have firmware 1.00C.   Please PM me if you have a 1.00A camera and are willing to help test.

I blinked out the LED addresses with Canon BASIC and added them to the A1200 wiki page.

Update 2 :  more progress.  I have the camera booting from the DISKBOOT.BIN file  - I can turn on a LED early in the bootloader process.  This is a huge step because I can now work forward methodically through the boot code.  Prior to getting this working,  you just end up staring at a camera that does nothing when you press the on/off key.

Update 3 : CHDK now loads from SD card via the card lock booting method. The booting process completes and the CHDK spytask runs.   At the moment that just means the CHDK logo appears.

One step at a time.  Test versions for the 1.00C have been mailed to the volunteer beta testers.

I have stopped working on the 1.00A for now as there appears to be no interest in that version.

Okay - the A1200 beta testers have reported success with Beta1 for firware 1.00C so its time to post it here.

a1200-100c-1.1.0-beta-1.zip

Release Notes
1) This release does not have any of the shooting functions enabled (RAW, exposure override, movie zoom etc not enabled yet).
2) You can only use the "SD card lock" method with this release. There is no ps.fi2 file so no "firmware update" method.
3) The <ALT> key is the playback key ( the blue triangle in the blue box). At some point I will enable the ability to reassign this to the Face key or the DISP key.
4) Colors will be weak and sometimes hard to see.  I should be able to improve that as we go along.
5) You can run scripts - one beta tester reports getting a simple shooting script to work. But many things will not fuction yet.

At this point, I'm not looking for feedback on what works or what doesn't work. I know there are lots of things that don't work. This is just to give A1200 owners a chance to work through the process of setting up their camera for CHDK and trying it out.

Update : Beta 2 has been released to the beta test volunteers.  Everything should now be working except the video zoom and quality overrides.

The A1200 beta testers report that this version works pretty well for the 1.00C firmware.  Its CHDK for the A1200 with all the features enabled !

https://www.box.com/s/0bcda37c7fad8dea77dc

Current bug list is here :  https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Vsqrf88QuD_leO4ajgqZrKCL-Z820RwLqQdEZEKYEC4/edit?pli=1

I will be thrilled with any new reports about things that don't seem to work.  Some of those will be generic issues with CHDK and some will be specific to the A1200.  Either way - feedback is a huge part of this process.

You have my thanks for your work making this port better with your reports of bugs, issues and "things that go bump in the night".
