sorry if post is in a wrong section but my canon a1200 has a firmware version of 1.00A
is there any way to upgrade it to 1.00B or C ,i cannot seem to find any firmware updates .please help me.
Canon very rarely issues firmware updates so its unlikely you can change yours.
You will need a version of CHDK for the A1200 specifically ported for the 1.00A version.

It says that progress for version 1.00A has stopped.
I request you to please work on this version , i know this group is very good and had created the chdk for version 1.00B although it was not supported previously,i thus would like to request you to do the same for version 1.00A

P.S the dumped firmware for the version 1.00A is already present.but if you require a fresh copy i am willing to dump it.

I don't need another firmware dump. What I do need to see is a firm promise from somebody that they will test a new version and report back the results.   I've worked on some ports that get dozens of downloads but no feedback.  Not interested in doing that again.

Thanks - your promise is good enough for me.  Give me a day or two and I'll post a version here.

Hi waterwingz,

I am playing around with your port for the c version and wanted to post some cool misterious bugs. Unfortunately I can't seem so find any, so all I can do is thank you again for your time and effort. If I find out about something not working I'll immediately post it here, for sure.

best, p

@bbose007 :  this might be your lucky day !   The camera firmware file for the 1.00a is different from the 1.00b.  But it looks like the CHDK ports are identical  ( stubs_entry.S, stubs_auto.S, boot.c,  movie_rec.c, capt_seq.c etc all the same).  This happens from time to time if the changes are high enough up in ROM memory.

Please download the CHDK port for firmware 1.00b and try it on your 1.00a camera ?  If you report success here,  I will submit a patch to create a 1.00a version that is basically the same as the 1.00b version.
