Hiya everyone, just a quick question.

I've seen the highspeed capabilities of the Exilim FS10, and wondered if it were possible to do something like that with a script or such with CHDK.

The Exilim can record up to 1000fps, but I guess that 200~ would already be an improvement.

But is that even possible, isn't it dependent on the hardware?

So I thought I'd ask here first.

I'm sure it requires hardware, and if Canon hardware could do it, they would include on some of their cameras.

I think something like that may be possible but it depends on how the cameras process video.  It wouldn't be a spectacular increase like an exslim.  My reasoning is based on the ability to decrease the exposure time beyond the original spec.  For example, the A460 has a normal minimum exposure time of 1/2000th but is capable of 1/10k.  So in theory you should be able to speed up the video framerate as well.

Again, this is dependent on how the camera processes video frames and whether or not CHDK has access to that specific functionality.  I'm new to CHDK and this is a job for an experienced member who really knows the nitty-gritty of the hardware and CHDK internals.  I just wanted to chime in so this thread stays alive because I was actually thinking about the same thing.

Even 60-100fps would be helpful for a lot of things.

Exposure time isn't really relevant to sensor readout. From what I understand, the available readout modes (full frame, 30 FPS 640x480 video etc.) are determined by the CCD and driver hardware.
