Hi!

I could not find this in the wiki.

Does CHDK support sending live video over USB to a PC?
(people would call this webcam mode, I guess)

Off topic: Know any cameras, that support this with stock firmware?

Not right now, but it's work in progress and has been made to work on a few cameras before, see e.g. http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=4338.0 and all the links to other threads and wiki you may find there.

I believe even the old models that supported shooting under USB control didn't send live video, but I'm not sure. But most if not all models do have a video output connector that can be hooked up to a PC one way or another (usually a cheap composite video -> USB adapter will do).

composite isn't exactly a synonym for high quality, especially in time of HD video  ;)

Ah, well... either way you wouldn't be getting anything but the uncompressed live view image which is far, far from hd. Sounds like you need a video camera.

Of course if the movie mode video quality of your camera is sufficient, one could probably experiment with streaming the video file that's being saved to an SD card. But keep in mind that SD card write speed is already close to being maxed out with video, so reading simultaneously might not work satisfactorily at all.

If you mean video encoded by the camera then no, not really.
