I can confirm that the camera do not crash at ISO 400 or lower, but crashes if you shoot at a ISO above 400.
I also experience crashes while shooting video (1080p) but this may also have to do with the above bug as it seems to occur more often in low light than in high light situations. (i don't think it is possible to se which ISO is being used while recording video).
I have tested manual flash, which is working.

@abderian2004
I'm using the newest version posted by talisen

@talisen

I do not quite understand what you mean by "where abouts are they found in the CHDK menus; which this bug is happening?"
But if you mean where you can find the option to set aperture, it is in Extra Photo Operations --> Override aperture

Thanks for your big work with porting this :)

Remote shutter is working (3 V doesn't work, 4.5 V does).

Hi all,

Got a new sx230 with firmware GM1.00c. First tests of genie's beta2 are positive. Tried some more common options, no extreme overrides yet. No crashes or other trouble so far.

Working:
DNG saves
bracketing tv,ex and iso (with custom timer)
zebra
histogram
grid

Not working:
can not open canon raw file in ufraw (as the dng works it might be a ufraw bug)

If there is any special case you would like me to test let me know :)

It is very possible that the hardware is not capable of extreme overrides.. We will need to wait and see

Meh, All I really wanted was a camera that would allow me to play with various manual settings. CHDK is a great extra but I won't lose a nights sleep if I can not get it in the far extremes. Been happy with the camera on my n900 till now so its already an upgrade  :)

Today I checked Pre-alpha version for GM 1.01a

Posted here

Hey,

I finally tracked down the last bug on my list for CHDK for SX230 HS Firmware version: GM1.01a.

I have been working on getting it to write RAW files, and I believe it is complete. Though dont have any application to open and check. I also have only been working from the Firmware Upgrade Loading method.

CHDK for SX230HS Beta1, can be downloaded here
  -  DISKBOOT.BIN = http://www.box.net/shared/atpjljnjok89mq8a4vjs
  -  PS.FI2              = http://www.box.net/shared/jc2qiaislaaadgkrfsyu

As always, use at your own risk.

Any bugs found can you please post them to the form with the FIRMWARE VERSION, as genie and myself have been working on our ports seperatly.

Taliesin

I found that there is only one bug which doesnt allow you to upload CHDK if you have any image in your memory card.

except "cant start with images on the card" issue i noticed that i can take DNG raw without any issue (no black\white noisy images)
-even i can take DNG raw images with ISO 3200.
-ISO overide working form 100 to 4000 range in this pre-alpha version which is not working in alpha version.
-Videos working perfectly. (however when i try to zoom-in it stops video capturing.)

@ taliesin:
Is there a way to remove "cant start with images on the card" issue from this version and keep everything same ?

Here is a new version for SX230HS GM1.00c that fixes some smal errors.

-  fixes CHDK start button. Now you have to hold on/off button to go directly into record mode.

-  CHDK Autoboot > 4GB SD Card with two partitions is now possible.

I uploaded the latest binary with FI2 here:

I don't like the N900's cam. The N95 8GB was nice, but the N900's kinda always gives crappy images, unless u have perfect light conditions.
Anyway I tried several scripts with the 1.00C version and none worked, they all crashed (camera turned off without lens retract) when doin the first picture.
