Im having issues to make CHDK work on my SX230

I have FW 1.01A.
I tried sx230hs-101a-1.1.0-2641-full_BETA.zip

It works until I turn off the camera then after It doesnt work anymore.

I followed both wiki's Manual install and Bootable steps with no luck.

what could I be doing wrong?

Did you follow the instructions here ?   Which steps did you take?   Please provide more detail.

If you are using the firmware update method to load CHDK, you have to go through the firmware update process each time you turn your camera on.

I followed the guide here: http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Prepare_your_SD_card

I followed step by step the Bootable SD Card Method Preparation section method 1

Sorry - meant to post that link in my earlier reply.  Glad you found it.

So you follow the steps in method 1,  and you see the logo at step 7?

And then you are able to go through the CHDK menu in step 8 and find and activate the "Make Card Bootable" menu item?

But when you turn the camera off, remove the SD card and set the SD card lock switch to "locked" and then reboot the camera,  CHDK does not load?

Do you get a "Card Locked" message on the camera LCD screen?

If so,  there might be a bug in the SX230 port.  As an alternative, you might want to try the STICK utility to load your card.

STICK is not detecting my 64GB SDXC card.
This could explain the issue.

I tried with 32GB SDHC and also not detecting the card...

But I fix the issue!!

I used the FW downloaded by STICK instead of the one I downloaded myself.
And I reformated my SDXC card using a FAT32 tool instead of the Camera itself.

It now working with the Bootable method and the locked card!

Thanks for the support!

I'll ping the author ( zeno  )  in case he has not seen this thread.  He may want to ask for some help figuring this out.

Did you check to see if they were different?  I suspect the one you downloaded was okay - your problem is what you mentioned next.

That explains you problem - your camera was formatting the card exFAT.

There is a prominent notice box in the wiki article you used right above the detailed steps that says :

I should have mentioned that right away but I see that its explicitly referenced in step 2 of the procedure. I'm not sure how much more I can do with the write-up than that.

STICK should have recognised the card as EXFAT (there's code in it to do just that) and force a reformatting. I'll do some testing here to check that it still works the way it's supposed to.

From the earlier post,  it looks like STICK was not recognizing the card at all.  So it never even looked at the card format.

I just tested a 1Gb card formatted as Exfat under Windows XP and STICK recognised the card and that it was ExFAT.

The STICK log might give me a clue as to what was going wrong - STICK ignores 'cards' bigger than 64Gb so perhaps the 64Gb SDXC card was actually a bit bigger and STICK thought iwas over the limit.
