I tried new build, it shows complete menu but i cant capture with required settings.

Steps i followed:

-upgraded the firmware in playback mode.
-CHDK starts with its splash screen.(camera restarts in playback mode)
-selected capture mode by pressing shutter button.
-then pressed DISP+FUNC SET button to get into CHDK menu. (first press DISP then FUNC SET button)
-after CHDK menu appears i selected overrides.(tried different overrides)
-pressed menu so that CHDK menu disappears.
-note that at this point nothing happen when i press shutter buttons except few random numbers appear on top right corner.
-then pressed DISP + FUNC SET to come back to enter default camera menu.
-I can capture photos but with default camera settings. Histogram appears somtimes when i kept it to "always on" setting.

I noticed that CHDK menu does not remain stable. it keeps splashing or comes and goes.

I think we are close to it.

Keep up the good work Taliesin.

@abderian2004

Because the CHDK menu often gets overwritten by Canon screen updates in capture mode, it is
generally a better idea to manipulate CHDK settings in review mode, and only then switch to
capture mode.

hope that helps,

wim

PS: Based on general CHDK practice (I don't have access to this cam)

So does that mean the menu/chdk overlay behaviour is normal? If so I can cross it off my to do list.

@taliesin

If you can make your CHDK screens come back up by button presses, I would say yes ...
(maybe not cross it off, but put it way down on the list)

In Review mode CHDK menu runs smoothly, (only few instances it disappear (or a part of it disappear) and comes back when i press any button).

In Capture mode, it disappear very frequenctly however it comes back up when i press any button.

Sounds normal. The Canon display doesn't update very often in review mode.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

if the chdk menu disappear when you do a soft press on the left right, up down keys, then your keyboard mask is wrong.

new cameras have 2 states for each button.chdk work only when press hard.but if alt mode is active you need disable the soft press too, so canon firmware do nothing.then chdk menu is not overwritten in record mode
