Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me with this. 

I don't actually own the G12 but am considering buying one.  One thing that worried me, though, was the discovery that the colour adjustment is 'My Colors' are switched off if RAW or RAW+JPG are selected.

You see, I like to use superfine JPGs in general, but keep a RAW copy of each shot in case I ever want to 'take that shot further'.  I wouldn't want to post-process all of my shots from RAW files and, even for those that I might want to tinker with or perfect, I'd still prefer one of my colour-affected JPG files to recall the effect that I was trying to get at the time I shot it.

What I'd like to know, please, is whether CHDK can override this situation so that, for each shot, I can have a JPG that is affected by customised settings in My Colors, together with a RAW file  --  presumably with the G12 settings set to JPG-only to allow tweaks to the JPG in My Colors but with RAW output switched on in CHDK(?).

I'd be grateful for any help that anyone can give.

P.S.  I do realise that - if this works - the tweaking of the JPG with 'My Colours' is bound to add to the load and slightly increase the processing time per shot. (I can live with that).

Yes, you turn off the built in Canon RAW in the camera and turn on the CHDK RAW in the CHDK menus. This way you can have the custom colors and other settings applied to the JPEG (saved by the camera) and have a RAW file saved by CHDK.
I'd recommend saving the CHDK RAW files in DNG format (via the menu options) so they are easier to process.

None of the custom settings applied to the JPEG will be saved in the CHDK RAW file.

The CHDK RAW files are not compressed so are larger than Canon RAW files, they also take longer to save to the SD.

Right. Looks like it's off to the camera shop for me, then. (very expensive in the UK [gulp]).
