Please check: CHDK firmware usage/AllBest - CHDK Wiki
where it says:

Only works when camera is used in Manual Focusing mode.

Are you sure that's the case ?

I did test it in manual focus mode and my camera also crashed but now you mentioned it again I did some more testing and it seems that just pushing the MF button to get into manual focus mode is not enough. I have to push the MF button and first actually change the focus distance with the up/down buttons (or zoom lever) to any value and then I can use the override setting and the camera won't crash anymore. So it's all sorted, thanks whim.

Hi all,

First of all, thanks to everybody who worked on the development of CHDK, it's a great tool.

I'm here to report a bug: I can't see the grid nor the zebra on my a570. These features used to work when i was using Fingalo's builds. I don't think this bug is specific to build 37, it probably was there in the previous builds as well. Because looking through the menus, i just realized that the grid and zebra modes were left on (i had turned them on a month ago, then forgotten about it) , but i haven't seen them on the screen since i switched to Allbest builds. I tried deleting the CHDK.CFG file, but it didn't help.

I'll try the older Allbest builds to see at what point they stopped working. That might help you locate the bug.

edit: Turns out grid isn't buggy. There's something weird going on with the zebra though.

Being able to override the shutter speed by 1/3 stops is very nice (just when I was getting used to doing the math in my head using the old way  :)).

BTW, still loving the MF mode, using it all the time for macro photography.

Small feature request: Is it at all possible to enlarge the LCD image (sort of like what happens when you use digital zoom to zoom past the optical zoom limit) so that we can better see the effects of our focus adjustments?  Is manipulation of the LCD image to this level possible with CHDK?  I think this would be a great feature to help users get razor sharp focus.  If it were something that we could toggle on/off while in MF mode (or rather "psuedo-MF" mode for me on my SD1000/ixus70) by pressing a button on camera, that would be great.  Also, a menu option to set the level of magnification of the "Focus Zoom" would be icing on the cake.

Not sure if it's possible, but if it is, it would be awesome!

I can't see the grid nor the zebra on my a570.

Turns out i can see the zebra. But *only" when i set the white balance to "tungsten". It also seems to appear when the auto-WB setting comes close to the tungsten setting. It isn't visible in any of the other WB settings. Weird, isn't it?

Grid is always invisible, regardless of the WB setting.

I tried changing the "zebra mode" setting, and zebra started working more often. But not always. There's not a particular zebra-mode setting that prevents it from working. For example, when i set the mode to one of the settings it sometimes doesn't work, but if i try that setting again, it starts working.

As i've pointed out before, it seems to have a connection to the white-balance setting. Changing the WB setting may stop it from working or get it working again.

Grid, on the other hand, never works.
