A710 is also fine, but I thought that was clear? I mean otherwise you have to hold down the shutter?!
I've always used that mode with bracketing.

BTW.: I only have the Custom mode and the hold-shoot-key-mode.

Custom timer is slightly (=much) slower than continous mode due to having to flash the af led between every exposure. At least this is the case with A710. If you have to take a HDR set without touching the camera and as fast as possible, better use a script that counts taken exposures...

A combo of both.

In CHDK, set any "Bracketing in continuous mode ..." that you want.

In Canon's menu, set "Self Timer" > "Custom" > Delay seconds (0 to 10, 15, or 30 seconds) and Shots (1-10).

When you use your Custom timer setting it will fire off the selected number of "Self Timer" shots using CHDKs bracketing settings.

(A particularly fast and easy way of having a customizable focus-bracketing built in. Canon's own minuscule focus-bracketing steps are all but useless.)

I just tried using Canon's built-in AEB (3-shot exposure bracket) with a CHDK 3-shot focus bracket for HDR macro-photography, but I only got 3 shots of exposure bracket, not 3x3 shots of focus + exposure bracketing. Oh well, can't have everything. There's just some things we'll still need scripts for. :)

Hah, I was pointed to CHDK so early in my ownership of my camera, I hadn't even been through all the camera's build-in features. Thanks. :)

Thanks, it works for A610 also. Also for faster shooting set focus to manual and AF Beam to OFF from the MENU settings

Burst = Continuous Shooting mode is significantly faster than Custom mode.

You are still missing the whole point of this thread.

I don't know if he's missing the point but he does confuse basic terms which I pointed out.
