I think I loaded CHDK successfully. When it boots up this shows briefly:
CHDK Firmaware 'CHDK 0.9.9-1218'
Build: June 28 2011 06:34:14
Camera: sx20-102b

What do I do to enable the ALT menu?

Hi Lebowski,

Welcome to the forum !

On page 6 of the CHDK User Guide, it is said to be the 'Shortcut' button for SX 20

There's also some info on CHDK shortcut keys on the SX20 Wiki page

For the SX20, use the same button as the SD Series, press the Direct Print button located to the left of the viewfinder - there is a blue colored printer icon just above the button (see the photo labeled "Back of Powershot SX20 IS on http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/SX20 )

Thank you Whim and SkyWalker9, I found it by depressing the (1) shortcut button for video recording, then the (2) print button, and finally the menu (3) .
