A really true opinion, but I have to add this: work hard instead of thinking about start-up delays,
AND buy good batteries for the money you earn: I've missed some shots due to some low battery warnings!(not only warnings)
The canon P&S are really very fast, my first own camera was a Fuji (very old style). In those times start-up delays were
a real issue.
But that again is nothing if you compare it with the cams or better trucks of 1995 when I tried them in my fathers office.
(And those were no no names, ...) That's endless, I'll stop here.
Edit: I have good bats, but they often get too cold. And you have to recharge every battery sometimes, some earlier some later. Mine are in the middle, but I'll build a universial battery-adapt for a710's dc-in and use some old 7.2V 2200mAh Li-ions
these don't get frozen that easyly.
