I am not able to use CHDK with my A1100, it seems to me that the file:
PS.FIR/PS.FI2
is not present in the zip.

That's right because for the A1100 the update method does not work.

Make the SD card bootable: http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Bootable_SD_card
