SD800 IS - No FIRM UPDATE / What's "Playback button"?

(I'm not really a noob since I've been using CHDK on a handful of SD400's for a couple years, but...)

I got an SD800 IS and I can't find a FIRMWARE UPDATE option. Yes, I've reformatted the card in the camera -- an Eye-Fi Connect X2 4GB, btw, the reason I "upgraded" to the SD800 -- and I've put all the files on the card, but I can't get the option to come up. In the "readme.txt" it says:

Quote
If by chance that you fail to see the "Firm Update" menu option try pressing your Playback button twice. You might have to wait 2 seconds between presses.

but I don't know what a "Playback button" is on this model.

Any ideas?

It means starting the camera in playback/review mode rather than record mode.
Many cameras have a dedicated button to switch to playback/review mode, that also starts the camera if it is off; but the SD800 has it as a selection on the mode dial.

Try setting the mode dial to playback/review then starting the camera.

Yeah, that's how the SD400s work, also. So this idea of holding the button down for 2 seconds must not apply to this camera.

Is there any way to debug the camera to see why it isn't seeing the firmware?

If you happen to be copying the file using a Mac, see http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ/Mac#Still_Having_Trouble.3F
Don't forget what the H stands for.

Bingo! That must have been reset when I upgraded to OS X Lion. It's been so long I forgot about it.

If anyone else has this issue, here's a link on changing a specific directory in Terminal:
http://www.elland.me/posts/disabling-mac-os-x-quarantine
and here's one on "permanently" changing the OS X to not mark files for quarantine:

Thanks!
