Test versions for firmware 1.01A,  1.01B/1.01C are confirmed to be working.
A reminder for testers, there are some scripts that can help verify the completeness of the port http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Testing
Don't forget what the H stands for.

Hello, I just bought an Ixus 115 HS with the firmware 1.01 c. I've tried to install all of the CHDK alpha 11 versions.
There just doesn't seem to exist a version with that version number and letter.
The 1.01b version will work on the 1.01c

Anyway, if I try to make the card bootable with Cardtricks program, and boot the camera with the card in the locked-position, the camera doesn't react in any way. In addition, I have to remove and re-insert the battery in order to boot the camera on the built-in OS after the try.
That will happen when you load the wrong firmware versions (1.00c & 1.01a).  It should not happen with the 1.01b firmware.

I don't get any kind of "Firm update" option in the menu in any way and not on any alpha version.
Correct.   The firnware update method is not supported for the alpha version releases.

Could you please tell me if it's possible to use CHDK on Ixus 115 HS with the firmware version 1.01c?
Yes it is.

If it were, how should I do it?
Use the 1.01B version on your 1.01c version.

Did you exactly follow the instructions given here ?

link> Prepare Your SD Card

CHDK For Newbies - How To Install with Card Tricks

For your camera,  you can try SDMinste.exe rather than Card Tricks.
http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/sdm/file/common_files.zip
Using SDMinste to Create Dual Partition SD cards

This is probably a personal problem, but I could not get 1.01a to work on my sd card. I tried it on multiple cards. I know my version is 1.01a. I was trying to get the follow the directions in this post via link> Prepare Your SD Card.

I formatted the card (with the camera) then put it in the computer. Unzipped the file on the card left the CHDK folder, the diskbin, changlog, readme, and vers files on the blank card. I think put it in my camera and pressed the play button, but the menu did not have the option to update the firmware. Can anyone point out what I'm doing wrong? Thanks all.

@Swithich:
Did you carefully read waterwingz answer to tuomasr? And followed the link to "Prepare..." and to "...How to install..."?

Ruedi

Oh - forgot: the alpha builds are only for direct loading to your camera while booting it - not for manually loading by the firmware-update method! So there is the need to use e.g. CardTricks

As RueLue pointed out, I neglected to mention that you need to use the "card lock boot" method of loading CHDK.  There is no ps.fi2 file needed to use the firmware update method included in the alpha builds that I have posted.  I apologize for the misleading information.

Hmmm...I thought I was attempting this. Okay I'll try to use a software package to set up the sd card. I have one on order to handle the raw photos (32 GB) when I get this working.

I wonder if this was the problem

Some recent cameras format SD cards as exFAT. This format cannot be used for autobooting. You must reformat these cards as FAT32 on your PC.

I'll get on Saturday and try to hammer this out.

@Swithich:
I see there coming another problem. If you have, take a smaller card (e.g.2 GBy) for your first steps, as big cards need the boot marker at another place - and I don't know, if CardTricks can already handle these. 4-GBy-card (and bigger): special needs for the boot markers (see message http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=6751.msg78909#msg78909 and following messages).

Ruedi :  its not a question of the size of the card.  It has to do with which way it is formatted.   If its FAT16 the boot marker goes one place,  if its FAT32 it goes somewhere else.    You can use a 2G card formatted as FAT32 if you put the marker in the right place.

But I wonder if anyone has confirmed that cameras that can boot from FAT32 cards will also boot from FAT16 cards ?

I think we are done with the alpha release phase of development for this camera.   Tonight I submitted a complete patch file to add the ixus115 to the autobuild dev trunk.

This released version has many small cleanups since alpha11 thanks to dnw.   It also implements a user selectable <ALT> key.

NOTE : The default way to enter <ALT> mode will now be by pressing the PLAY button

However,  you can change back to the DISP+ZOOMIN key sequence from the CHDK menus if you really prefer that method.  Or to the VIDEO key if you like that better than the PLAY button.

This version will appear for download  here rather than the older stable trunk download location.

And with that,  I bid you all goodnight and hope you have fun with the new port !
