It is nearly every time irritating: one time it doesn't run, then it runs, then the camera switches off in between. One time it ran with 300msec sleep before (all o.k.), next time it switches the camera off.

Quote
You probably need a sleep 2000 in there on the first line to allow the camera time to complete its power-up setups.
The above named script ("further running this: get_zoom x ... set_zoom 3 ... end")  was indeed some lines longer and started with rem...print...print...sleep 500"; now when I repeated the autostart with it, it ran without problem. Inconsistent! But it seems indeed connected to the time before the first get_... or set_... Would this be a reason to let autostart scripts always wait 1 or 2 seconds after switch on to run (with maybe a visible countdown)?

But beside this, there is still a worm in it, connected to the zoom and it seems, it is a similar worm as in mech. and digital zoom while recording a video. When switching to playback and back to get the zoom switch back, the behavior is the same as described in Re: set_zoom at startup (noob)

Someone once said : "Everything old is new again."   Here's another thread on the subject :

The timing of set_zoom is tricky and seems to depend on what mode the camera is operating in.  Some of the details are in the post above.

In short,  on some cameras,  set_zoom() does not work very well.

Hi all,
i'm trying to discover which firmware version my camera has,
but the ver.req/vers.req procedure doesn't work.
If I hold down FUNC/SET and then DISP nothing happens, the only thing I succeded to get is the clock...
What have I to do?

Thanks

Hi Sarkar!
If you are sure, that you really need that badpixel.bin, then you need to be patient and try it from time to time again and again: I was not able to find the rules for it to be created or not. (fw vers. 1.01b)
Maybe this message from waterwingz has some info for you: http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=6751.msg88034#msg88034

I just tried the DE-version of rev.2002 and the badpixel.bin file has been created (raw-menu, save raw:no, raw-buffer: no, raw file in jpg-folder: no, remove pixel errors: no, dng-format: yes, dng as file extension: yes, dng-version: 1.3;)
Tried again: o.k.
I tried again rev.2002 (orig., the same settings as before), 2 times no problem.

Hi RueLue,

Thanks for the link! :D

Before that, I was quite surprised about the 'Mysterious' creation of RAW images without badpixel.bin in my card. (though the quality of those images was not up to the mark. So I think creating badpixel is very helpful)

The good news is that, I successfully created badpixel.bin in chdk. I formatted my FAT32 card to FAT using cardtricks and loaded rev. 2018. Previously I was using rev. 2002. So I'm not quite sure which one worked; FAT formatting or new rev.

Btw, do you know how to remove the overlay which shows the [Alt] shortcuts when camera is idle? It's kind of annoying me.  :(
