Hi there guys!

This is my first post and after reading (a lot) i still can't find a way to check my camera's firmware.

I've got an Ixus 117 wich is probably the same as the 115 but the issue i'm having is that i can't just check the firmware from my camera (Alt function: Function set + Zoom In) doesn't work, (Alt function : Function set + Display) doesn't work neither...

Can anyone help me out here? Thanks. OH Is it just me or there isn't a "Firmware update" section on these 115/117 cameras?

You have to start the camera using the Play button - not the On/Off button and there has to be ps.fi2 file in the root directory of your SD card before the menu item will appear.

Done everything butttt...... Ahh! Going nuts here, apparentlly there are no existent firmware builds for my camera..!

I've been searching arround (the web) and also here and still i haven't seen any dumps on it yet.

Is it possible to somehow use the Ixus115 builds by downgrading it or by improving the 117's one based on the 115?

It seems likely that the CHDK IXUS115 version should work - assuming that the IXUS117 is just a IUXS115 version packaged for a different sales channel. There is an earlier post here that says the 1.01b version will work with the 1.01c firmware.

Oh yeah!

Got some splash screen (red back with white fonts), but i can't seem to get the menus from chdk yet...!

the ixus 115 101b seems to work on the 117!! I'll check back if something else happens

To enter ALT mode when CHDK is loaded on your camera, press ZOOM IN + FUNC./SET
Then press MENU to bring up the controls

You have to press the two keys at the same time - not one after the other.

Hi!
Is it possible to make exposure lock for IXUS 115 HS / ELPH 100 HS ?
For example: when I pan my video there is no option to lock exposure ( to avoid exposure jumps till i pan or tilt camera) Is it possible in CHDK ?

seems it is the "RAW buffer cache" causing the duplicating RAW photo problem.

when the RAW buffer cache" is enabled, you got one duplicating photo in every two photo taken. when the cache is diabled, you have the dupicating RAW randomly, I could get 6 consecutive duplication if I am unlucky, missed a lots of chance when taking photo for my daughter.

got a workaround on this problem, after the review is completed, push the play button and show that photo again, and then half press the shutter to turn it back to record mode, the next photo taken is still good.

but certain it will be great if this problem can be solved and I do not need to waste time do these steps.

Afterall Ixus 117 doesn't seem to respond on everything.

It can't seem to execute the scripts how they should work!

Bugs i've found so far:
- Can't lock the Iso
- Can't lock the shutter speed (tried in auto and 'manual')..! So.. all bracketing functions are "gone"
- Can't understand when there is a raw picture, i see "Raw XX" being xx any 2 digits on the right bottom corner but when i go to files i've made a few raws but... not more than that..!.

Good things about the Ixus 117 and chdk
- Optical zoom during video works.
- Video quality seems to be affected (to better Q)

And nothing else yet..! I'll go and fiddle a little more around!

Can anyone explain me how to dump the firmware or pinpoint me through and already existent thread?

I've been trying to use the methods described on the site but i went Postal everytime i tried...

Obviously i might be doing something wrong (i even used the card tricks..)

(didn't try the phototransistor method)
