@siak (1.01a)
Please! alpha omega is only for 1.01b and 1.01c

@pineyphotosnj and @James David Robinson (alpha omega)

More remarks about alpha omega:

and

And:
* dz.dice writes, that he uses an IXUS 117 HS 1.01b and he has no problem with using the 115 HS 1.01b builds.
* and fe50 writes:
> The IXUS 117 is a variant of the IXUS 115, this IXUS 117 1.01B firmware is
> code compatible with the IXUS 115 1.01b

Sadly: sources for the alpha omega build are lost (hd-crash): few hope for porting or development efforts the next time.

If you don't have enough data stream on the card you won't be able to record the movies the time you'd like, faster cards makes video work a treat, i've downsampled my video bitrate and it seem'd to work very nice...

I never tried the raw feature on the camera (nor to create the badpixel file).

[EDIT]

Just tried raw... not sure, but it seems to work perfectly... The preview seems "purple", but when i load the photo under lightroom... it seems to be perfect, I have no problems with the RAW function, it seems to create more than one raw... the settings i have:

- Save RAW: Yes
- Dark Frame Subtraction: Auto
- Only first Raw: De-selected
- RAW in Dir w/ JPEG: De-selected
- RAW File prefix: CRW
- RAW File Extention: .CR2
- RAW Subtract Prefix: SND_
- RAW Subtract Extension: .CR2
- RAW Develop: Never touched it
- Bad Pixel Removal: Average
- DNG Format: Selected
- DNG file extension: Selected
- Create badpixel.bin (created)
- RAW Buffer Cached: De-selected

[Edit end]

I use the alpha-omega version on my Ixus 117 wich is a variant of the Elph 100 aka Ixus 115.

I've had some issues with the alpha5 version and  that's what made me go to the alpha-omega (works nice on my camera).

Hope i've helped somehow...

Ok, noob question here, is there a simpler way to port things out? I'm kind of stuck trying to port this, i've read some of your tutorials but I still don't understand where to start, how do you know wich function is what?

I'm thinking of adding some better video features to CHDK. (shutter speed lock to avoid video flickering due to light metering for example), sacrificing the 1080p processing to get 720p @ 120fps.

My problem: Where to start?? Which software you guys use? I'm not asking for a full "lecture" but some guidance...

Thanks.

Can someone add the info about IXUS 117 to the summary of page 1 ?
And possibly also a remark about the alpha omega build?
Thank you! Ruedi

The best stuff is on the wiki in the Common articles section : http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/For_Developers

Good luck with the project.  If the web pages I linked to above don't make a lot of sense to you, then adding this sort of functionality is going to be a long process.  CHDK is a hack - the documentation is thin and you need to explore and learn how things work on your own sometimes.  I don't want to discourage you but what you are looking at doing will be a lot of work.

Thank you for those replies; I seems to have gotten DNG enabled but the dark frame removal and various (16k) bad pixels are a nightmare to look at ...so a side by side comparison has revealed that the raw save is a waste of time when viewing side by side the super-fine over ride and the raw DNG output.

THis might not be the case if it were a larger sensor, but with this particular model, enabling the super-fine override seems the best option on the table since it's a built-in feature with the jpg creation process it automatically gets rid of the bad pixels and creates a JPG with quality setting of 93% I believe ( compared to  ? ) on the other settings?

...it may be interesting to see the three together on a comparison, but I can't tell the difference between superfine and raw output except for the various bad pixels and time it takes to remove them.

This seems to be a sensitive subject.  There are people who post on this forum that swear they get superior images using RAW.   But so far,  there has been no "side-by-side" images posted to prove that.

So IMHO,  most of them go to great lengths to post-process their RAW images on their PC's, producing images that might be superior to the camera's jpegs at the highest quality setting.  Good for a few shots but not much help when you take 3000 pix on a two week vacation.

And no RAW software trick is going to turn a $150 P&S camera into a $1500 DSLR.

Incidentally,  if you do try your test - do it at the widest zoom angle.  That's where you can best see the true sensor image that RAW gives you.

Is the USB remote working? I am using alpha omega build and I am not able to trigger the camera no matter which settings I choose. Is there a trick to make it work?

I am using USB cable (+5V are applied and the camera should trigger). It works on my SD4000 and SD870, but not on this camera.
