thanks, I am ready for testing, DNG format is definitely a very good feature

I have been losing many good shots because of the bad RAW captured, but the good RAW are just too good to be used in correcting colour, getting better dynamic range and doing NR to my own taste.

oh, one more thing on the badpixel creation, heard someone is having trouble with this.

I tried several times and it is not successful.

then I turned off the aftershot review, making sure the empty default script is loaded, and run badpixel creation again and it is good.

Some progress at last.  Rewrote the boot.c and capt_seq.c code from scratch - modelled after the elph500 code. Its only for the 1.01b (and 1.01c) as nobody has come forward to work on the other models so far.

ixus115_elph100hs-101b-1.1.0-alpha9

dnw tested this last night and reports that RAW and DNG are now working.  Several of the shooting issues he has been seeing are corrected too.   Here are some questions though :

1) dnw reports that every second JPG is massively overexposed when using DNG. The corresponding DNG images are fine.  Apparently this is not a problem when just shooting RAW ?

2) Can someone test whether script issues with shoot vs press "shoot_half"/press "shoot_full" problems are fixed ?

Do you have the alpha 9 for 1.01a? The link to alpha 8 on the previous page was removed.

No.  Or at least - not yet.

After I got no feedback from people who download the 1.00c and 1.01a version I stopped working on them.   I will go back to it at some point when I have a volunteer to test them  (and yes .. you did volunteer to look at it this weekend ...I thank you for that)

Figured my time was better spent fixing the raw buffer issue and testing on the 1.01b where I was getting feedback than porting to versions were I was not getting any feedback.

I've turned the 1.01a alpha 8 back on - https://www.box.com/s/a60c2e170fa50e4b0b6c.   Not sure it does much for you though  ... alpha9 is a complete rewrite.

That works for me. Just leave a post when you start working on 1.01a again. I'll check the forums every few days to look for an update.

Sometimes I wish providing an "real" email address as part of signing onto the forum was a requirement.   That way you could "PM" somebody and without knowing their email,  they would get the update message.

@waterwingz:
I tested the alpha9 and most of the problems seem to be gone. Thank you!

Remarks:
  • the first try to make the badpixel.bin gave me an error message: "badpixel.bin failed. Please try again." The next try was a success: process ended normal, message "badpixel.bin created. bad pixel count: 13682", and file was in CHDK folder. (error message not reproduced)
  • DNG- and CRW-files are all created (o.k. - the described problem with the "overexposed" 2nd images and they are only a copy of the previous image). This was already a problem in the alpha-omega build. For observations see: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (I'm not sure, if it is exactly the same.)
  • The problem with the mechanic zoom (connected to the digital zoom) was also already in the alpha-omega-build. Description
  • Scripts make all pictures without stopping half way through. Great!!
  • Seemingly, the problem with the file browser (deleting folders with files in them) is gone.
All together: you reached the alpha-omega-build!

You wrote: "alpha9 is a complete rewrite." - I thought, that it is some weeks of work? Some thousand lines of code? anyway - thank you!

Something - I found a bit disturbing (really little problem): after switching the camera on, I needed a second button press to switch to record mode. Now I found out, that it is enough to hold the power button pressed for ~ a second, and the camera switches on directly to record mode. - Fine!

Another thing, which is disturbing: 2 switches to change to <alt> mode. Is it possible to use the movie button (as example)? So when I press the movie button only short, it starts recording a movie, when I press it for e.g. half a second, the alt mode comes up. Or: menu button short = <alt> mode, menu button long = system menu.

Enough for now! Ruedi

It was a lot harder the first time I did it (and its not thousands but many hundreds of lines).  That's why I wrote CHDK-PT

One of many things I cleaned up to allign with the current usage of CHDK.

I enabled the option to have a user defined <ALT> key.  Not owning the camera,  I did not really understand the best option.  If you like,  we can make any or all of the buttons available for users to pick as the <ALT> key.

Oh, yes, now I see the setting (blind). Now, preset is "Video", but when I press short or long on the video button, always video recording starts (and Alt-mode on-off is still done with zoom-in+set). "Display" is no extra button, but part of the ring around the Func/Set button, used for "down" in menus (image on expertreviews.co.uk). Pressing "down" does nothing, and I can't leave the Alt-mode now. "Playback ([>])" does the same: nothing and it's not possible to leave the Alt-mode. Oh - in the image: the red dot marks the video-button.

I looked at the link you posted but there does not seem to be any button for "video" in the posted images ?? (or is it on the top of the camera ?)

Okay - there was a thread sometime ago proposing that "Playback" be the default <ALT> mode button.

I'll set that up in the next release (or one of the next releases anyway).
