Remote for Canon SX130 IS?

I have a question please. I have a Canon SX130 IS. Already downloaded the hack for it from here, and what I'd like to know is if it is possible to using a homemade remote to take pics with it. I know how to make one - also learned it here. I'm afraid if it's absolutely not designed for it, I would kill it with a 3 volt signal.

The home made remote just sends powers the USB connector the same way plugging it into a computer would (you can in take pictures by plugging and unplugging the computer cable if you enable remote ;)). If your remote doesn't deviate too far from the USB specs, it should be OK.

Alright. Installed CHDK and it works! I tried this trick with the PC usb to remote shutter but when I plug the usb in to the PC it only half
 presses the shoot button. It prepares to take the shot but it doesn't. What am I doing wrong? I really need this option

You need to insert and remove the USB cable twice.  The first time does a "half press" and the second time does a "shoot".

At some point I'd like to add a mode where the insert does the "half press" and the removal does a "shoot".  Maybe I'll work on that next.

Thanks it is as you said. I have to be a little quick tho :) I guess I'll make one for it for convenience. Now is it possible to zoom
 with a usb remote on this cannon model after CHDK?
