Hello everyone,

I'm new here and I have a problem with my D10. I will use the camera for tacking pictures from 40km in a weather balloon. I really need 2 things from CHDK: intervalometer and display off after 1-2..-5 shots in order to spare battery life. Intervalometer works just fine, but I cannot find anything to shut down the display while the intervalometer script works. I realy have to launch the balloon soon so I really need your help here! If anyone had this problem solved on D10 please reply here or use my email adress: catalin@astrofoto.ro .

Thank you,
Catalin

You can assign the "display off" function to the print button, and then simulate clicking that from script with click "print"
Don't forget what the H stands for.

@catalin
There are several was for power saving, read more in this thread & the links there.
Since the S95 is one of the cameras without an optical viewfinder, most probably the DISP button only toggles the OSD info but doesn't completely disables the LCD.
So option #3 shoul also work on the S95: from the Canon menu, register the "Sleep" ("ZZzzz") function to the shortcut (print) button; holding the shortcut button for ~1.5s now should disable the LCD until you capture the next image (or rotate the camera ;) ).

In a script just emulate pressing the print key, use something like
Code: [Select]
press "print"
sleep 100
release "print"
in the image capturing loop after the shot...

Thank you all!

I did'n use any of your sollutions because those didn't work on my camera. Nevertheless, I managed to switch off the LCD by the old and trusty method: inserting an A/C plug.

Congratulations on your successful flight, great to see CHDK in the stratosphere again  :)

I tested my suggestion on my D10, so I'm pretty sure it works. This should save more power than using the A/V plug. If you need it for future flights:
Set the print function by opening the regular shoot mode canon menu (not in chdk alt mode, just press menu key), and setting it to "zz" (last option).
In the script, send click "print" to turn the display off. Sending any other button press should wake it up again.
Don't forget what the H stands for.
