Will the CHDK firmware activate the Cannon Remote Capture software?  My interest in having this is so that I can take pictures of numerous documents in succession and save the time engendered with scanners.  In this context, one would be able to see the document on screen and then use the remote capture feature to simply click the picture.

This feature was no longer available on my Cannon model: Powershot A540.  I believe I properly installed the on-line CHDK firmware for this camera, but it doesn't seem to work for this feature.  But perhaps I didn't install it properly . . .

So my question:  if properly installed, does the CHDK firmware activate the Cannon Remote Capture software for the Powershot A540?  Both before and after the installation, I could see that this function exists on my Cannon software, but could not activate it.

No, Canon removed support for this on most of the newer Powershots.

You may have a look to CHDK's PTP features: PTP Extension
I suggest to try the ptpcamgui - here you'll find some more informations & links...

No, that is a Windows-only application.
