Dear friends,
this might be interesting to be listed in CHDK achievements.
On sept 10th, together with other folks, I launched yet another high altitude balloon with a CHDK Camera on board over central Italy. more detals on
www.stratospera.comThe flight turned out to reach the 4-th highest ever altitude for an amateur balloon (39.600 meters) and the highest ever done with an on-biard camera.
This means that in this occasion CHDK has probably shot the highest-altitude photos ever taken within an amateur project. (of course, things like NASA go higher than that :-)
This is an example of a panorama made with three of the photos, taken at about 39.5 km altitude.
What you see is the Italian peninsula, in perspective, looking down. You see details such as the Gargano peninsula and Ischia island, abt 500km away from where the balloon was at the moment.
