Heads up: moving forum to new host - offline time warning

Hi,

I will proceed with moving the forum and my other data this following weekend (unless something unexpected happens and changes my plans).

Though I can't give you accurate offline hours, I can estimate that I'll bring down the forum at 15:00 Lisbon time (GMT-1), and hopefully be back after 10-12 hours.

Cheers!

We're back!

There are still attachments being uploaded, so you'll miss some photos/images around the forum until that's done (a few hours more).

Also, while they're uploading, new attachments are disabled, I'll get those back on after completion.

Please see if it's all ok, and get back with info.

Thanks for waiting, and let's hope this one is better than the last!

Cheers

ps: I've also replaced a bunch of in-thread ads with a squarish one on top of each page, that reduces the amount of ads throughout.

update: attachments are now back on.

Nice job getting things switched over so fast !

They seem to squash or overwrite the post at the top of the page ?  But maybe I'm just used to the old style, which was perfectly fine with me.  No complaints either way.

Hmmm - looks like we lost some posts of the last view days ?!
(e.g. my last post with the SX150 dump in the firmware dumping thread)

I can confirm this. I miss postings of the day before the forum goes offline.

Ah-frak.

Sorry about this, this shouldn't have happened. I used the old host database backup tool and didn't check properly. I'll see if I can merge them into the current database , but it probably won't be easy...

Sorry again. I should know better not to trust anything from ipage, but still done it again.

Cheers!

What browser are you using? Can you send me a printscreen of that?

I had signed up for an account and create a thread just a day or two ago. They both are gone today. If I may suggest to see if anyone's new accounts are gone as well.

Cheers.

I've identified the posts (quite a few), and will *try* to figure out a way of merge them into the current database.

In the meantime, regarding my new host: though this isn't a dedicated server or something similar, this new host is different on one important point - my account is not shared and so we shouldn't see those site suspensions like my past hosts.

In practical/simpler terms, I have a quote of a server's processor and memory reserved for this account.

What may happen - and this is what I'll need to monitor (with your help of course) - is that if the forum queries get too intensive (many concurrent queries/users) the forum will slow down and probably won't respond for a moment.

For what I spoke with the host rep, this shouldn't happen too often, but let's see how it goes.
