Yeah I figured that. Oh well I got rid of it for now until there's a working version. I've been reading and reading thinking I'm doing something wrong but I don't believe that's the case. Hopefully there's an update keep up the good work, Ill check back in a few days. Maybe have a reply from the developer by then..

Hi I just tested the firmware. I could only make the CHDK firmware load if I made the card bootable and lock it. I dont know if i am doing something wrong or its a problem. secondly how do you activate the <alt> mode? can someone please tell me that. thanks. I will provide more information if required.

diskboot.bin is for loading CHDK with a CHDK-bootable, locked SD card (auto boot / locked card method); to load CHDK manually with the "Firm update" menu item from the Canon menu, the file PS.FI2 is needed... this should be included in the link in reply #33 (full package).

If you happen to get the PS.FI2 firmware update to work without an error will you post that you did? Maybe its just my camera that wont load it. DISKBOOT.BIN seems to load it fine.

I couldnt find the PS.F12 file on in the zip file (see screen shot) Maybe thats the problem? I keep getting 'update file error !!!' when i try to boot the firmware from the menu method.

Also I am pretty sure I have tried entering the <alt> menu with SET+DISP, but it didnt work. I will confirm when i get back from work and can try it again. Thanks a lot.

Can anyone else confirm a being able to enter the alt menu with set+disp??
Edit: ok i now understand that you can access alt mode by pressing disp while holding the set button down. thanks

Nope same problem with me, but the zip file doesnt seem to have the PS.F12 file. maybe in the next version of the file it will be included.

Correct.
Normally CHDK packages labeled "full" includes also the PS.FI2 (ps.fi2) file. But ATM the SX150 beta port only support loading with a locked card, there's not a PS.FI2 available yet.

This means: the PS.FI2 file you're trying to load doesn't match your camera, therefore the loader mechanism rejects the file.
I guess you've either renamed the diskboot.bin or you've copied a file from an other CHDK package to your card ?
This won't work...

--> "diskboot.bin" is the 'native' CHDK binary file, loadable with a CHDK-bootable, locked SD card
--> "ps.fi2" is exactly the same binary file, but encoded to be used with the "Firm update" mechanism

Meanwhile use the "locked card" loading method to test the available beta version(s) and report your results here in the porting thread  :)

Hi,
Just got my camera today.  Downloaded sx150is-100a-0.9.9-full and fired the camera up.  It works!  So I am eager to start testing.  Only one (embarrassing) problem: 
I can't get it into alt mode!  I have tried func+disp at the same time, but nothing.  What do I do???

Searching through the porting thread is usually a good place to start.  If you select the "Print" function you get the entire thread on one web page,  making it easier to search with your browser's CTRL-F function.

Hi,
Thanks for the tip about the print button.  But I had already read that post.  Maybe I wasn't clear:  Func/Set+disp doesn't work for me, not in any combination.  Is there anyone with a SX150 who can confirm that it does work?  What could I be doing wrong?  I have compiled the latest build 1454 and loaded that on my bootable card.  The splash screen displays.

That's curious -  the source code (platform/kbd.c) says its supposed to be SET+DISP.

Did you try sending a PM to sgtrum ?
