Just tried with 1640.  Still get same update file error.  I am only doing this to make the 8gb card bootable.  Is there some other way?

You can do it manually on Windows with the free HxD program - there are instructions on the wiki somewhere, just make sure to put the BOOTDISK string at 0x1E0 not 0x40 for a FAT32 formatted card.

Not sure if any of the tools to make bootable cards have been updated for FAT32 SD cards yet.

(Can't search just now, or I'd post links, sorry.)

Hi,
I tried again to use the firmware update method to boot CHDK this time with 1643 and it worked. 
Maybe I screwed up before when I tried it with 1640.
I was also able to use  HxD to make the card bootable.  Thanks.

When you get a chance can you retry 1640 - if that version does not work then there could be a problem with the way the PS.FI2 file is being created in some cases.

It's over my head, but I want to thank you guys for the work you're doing. This has become a very popular camera and I'm sure thousands of other people appreciate it too. That said, I look forward to any news and updates to your efforts.
The only thing I can suggest, is an edit to the README. So you don't get questions about getting into the ALT menu by pressing a non existent shortcut button. Thanks to Waterwingz, I figured it out.

Hi all! Thank you for this port. It works OK on my camera (I tried only a few functions). Zebra didn't do anything, but I need to check what that is exactly (I enabled it, configured to zebra1, directed the camera to lamp and didn't see zebra lines).

A more serious problem: when I go to video mode, the camera turns off! Same with the mode selection button on the top and the fast "video record" button. It leaves the optics outside but turns off. Please help.

Yes, it seems to have some problems.

I have an sx150 for a couple days, and I get the same issue. ROMLOG attached for anyone who is interested.

Zebra works for me, just checking draw zebra with all the other settings default.

Another feature: USB cable remote control - I cannot get this work. I am not sure my cable is OK, because I have nothing else to test with. (I built the cable seen in the Wiki, with CR2032 battery + switch)

Does it work for anybody? Thanks!
