I'm looking to try this camera with an external pan and tilt setup at a remote location.  Has anyone tried the SX40 with ptpcam?

If not, is there likely to be any problem with it?  Until I learn (much) more, I'm not likely to need to do more than zoom, shoot, and download.  I have this working with an A590is, but need more zoom.  My control platform is a Seagate Dockstar running debian Linux.

Revision 1671 (release-1.0) and 1672 (trunk) should fix the 'Raw develop' issue and also limits the max ISO override in HQ burst mode to prevent the crash.

Phil.

Phil,

Thank you so much for all you are doing with CHDK for the SX40.   :)  Just a quick question for you -

The Autobuild Server has been stuck at 1659 for about two weeks now.  So my question is,  how do I find 1672?

Dave

The autobuild is not stuck, just refresh the page.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

Hi,

First of all thanks to all developers of CHDK.   :)
Really nice product that made the difference choosing between SX40 and Panasonic FZ150.

Now I'm starting some test/trial with CHDK.

Wasn't able to write the firmware version on SD by ver/vers.req file.... got it from ACID.
Then just had few problems in autostarting, some confusion with double partition - formatting -etc.

Now finally I settled like follows:

- SDHC16GB formatted as FAT32 (single partition)
- Copied all CHDK files
- Started camera in playback movie
- Started CHDK by firmware update mode
- Selected CHDK Menu => Miscellaneous Stuff => Make Card Bootable

Now everything seems fine...
I'll play around and let you know.
 :) :)

Camera: sx40, firmware: 1.00G
I can't find any "Firm update" in the menu.
Believe  I've tried everything... :(
What I've tried:
 - Formatted the SD card in the camera
 - copy the CHDK files to the SD card with CardTricks
 - SD card in locked position in the camera
 - Starting the camera in view position
  = no "Firm update"
 - Hitting the view switch twice with 2 sec delay
= still no "Firm update" choice in the menu

After one week of trying - please HELP!

vers.req on your SDCARD root (not sure if needed to see "FIRM Update"
AND - More important, when turning the camera on, don't use the on/off - use the Playback button,
the one that you hit to see the photos you have taken.

I have done it yesterday with 1.00G

Unlock the card, format the card in the camera,copy/paste the full CHDK release to the card (don't use CardTricks),start the camera with the rear playback button and then press Menu and select 'Firm Update...' from the bottom of the first menu.

Make sure you have a valid PS.FI2 in the root of the card.
