Need to delete by separate type picture!
Please advice refer to my SX40hs at firmware number SX40hs-100i-1.0.0-1791-full_BETA.  How to do if I want to delete some pictures directly by use “Erase-button” and then at display will show separate by type of picture that like --> Erase only JPG file , Erase only RAW file , Erase both JPG and RAW file ( If I don’t want use function “RAW develop”).  On last month this function erase is work but now does not operate. How to set my camera like that?
There is no such setting or function in CHDK.

If you use the Canon delete function, the Canon firmware decides what to delete based on filenames. If it thinks files are "related" to jpeg, then it will delete them when you delete the jpeg. You can find some notes on this here http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=2045.msg18862#msg18862 (but this was based on a much older camera, yours might behave differently)

One additional thing that may cause confusion: In many cases the camera doesn't "see" files created by CHDK until you have rebooted. So even if it would normally delete CRW_nnnn.CR2 when you delete IMG_nnnn.JPG, it might not do this if you haven't rebooted since taking the picture.

If you want to delete raw or jpeg files individually, then use the CHDK file browser to delete the specific file.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

Zoom Framing Assist Button Hastle.......

here is a link to my question...

http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=7944.msg83915#msg83915

From the photo it looks like you are using your thumb to activate the shutter and the ball of your thumb is pushing on the button - is this how you normally shoot?

If so have you tried a different grip.
If you hold the camera with your thumb on the thumb rest between the video and frame assist buttons, then the ball of your thumb moves down (for gripping the camera), and your index finger activates both the shutter and zoom.

Disabling the frame assist should be possible; but I'm away from my PC at the moment, so can't look at it for a while.

I've added a menu option to disable the zoom assist for the SX30 and SX40 (under the Miscellaneous Stuff) menu.
This is in revision 1797 (trunk) and 1798 (release-1.0).
