Hello everybody,
first, many thanks to ERR99!  :)

If it's possible, I have two big wishes.
Could owners of the Canon SX40 read out Bad Pixels?
Could an owner of SX30 and SX40, upload same test shots in RAW and link here?

Please! :)

Some people would be extremely happy.
(If it is then possible with CHDK.)

ERR99 and I are both working on SX40 - his camera is 1.00f and mine is 1.00g.
We are working to combine our efforts to progress to the beta stage.

I have raw capture working on 1.00g; but bad pixel generation fails (it may be the Digic processor is mapping out bad pixels before CHDK gets to look at the RAW data).

I posted a comparison of RAW @ ISO 1600 for the G12, SX30 and SX40 here:

With big help of philmoz, RAW support is now also working with the 1.00f port.  :)

So here is the next testbuild (0.0.3) for 1.00f cameras. To get in camera DNG working, copy a "dummy" badbpixel.bin into the CHDK folder of the sd-card, because in camera badpixel.bin creation does not work.

I am using a SX40 1.00f, really great work both of you!
Sadly, I cannot swap the partitions on my 8GB card (used the CHDK folder of the SX30 1.00e image). CHDK says it only found one partition. So CHDK still wants to store the photos onto the small partition
Is there something I missed?

This years camera releases, including the SX40HS can work with cards formatted up to 32GB - you no longer need to partition the card to have CHDK autoboot.

The following steps should work on any card up to 33GB
- format the card in the camera
- copy the full CHDK release to the card (you need DISKBOOT.BIN, and PS.FI2 plus the CHDK directory)
- lock the card and start the camera with the rear playback button
- press Menu and select 'Firm Update...' from the bottom of the first menu
- when CHDK reboots enter <ALT> mode
- select 'Make Card Bootable' from the 'Miscellaneous Stuff' CHDK menu
- restart the camera and CHDK should now autoboot
