Hi all,

I am new to this forum. I have Canon SX1 and lately Canon SX40. I can see that HD movies on SX40 are only ~24fps(lower than SX1 which has 30fps) and movie quality is lower than in SX1 as well.

I do not know full Digic 5 capabilities but I am pretty sure that it can do 30fps (probably 60fps as well just by hardware (there were rumors that it can code 4k movies)) i.e. looks for me that it is all blocked by soft (or not programmed) also CMOS sensor should easily be fast enought for 30fps

Summarizing that, is there any possibility to unlock or program 30fps(or any other frame rate) for SX40HS (in CHDK mode)?

My SX40 has 1.01d firmware. Anything I can do to contribute to porting? I don't have time to enter into code development, but will happily dump firmware and fool around with make. Best wishes, and thanks to the community for turning my A570 into a great camera.

Probably not;  but you can try the current 1.00f and 1.00g versions - there is a small chance that they may work.

If not then you can try dumping the firmware and uploading to a file share so a port can be done.

Thanks for that - at this rate the SX40 may overtake the SX30 as the camera with the most number of firmware versions dumped & ported :)

Update: The version strings in the dump say it is 1.00I not 1.00L
