Hi!

My S90 works brilliantly... except that the on/off button only works 10% of the time. The "view photos" button can be used to turn on the screen, but to turn on the camera/ open the lens, need the on/off button to work.

Can I use CHDK to re-assign the on-off functionality to another button, like the "shortcut" button, for example? Any other way to use CHDK to work around the hardware breakdown in the On/Off button?

No you can't change the buttons this way in CHDK - CHDK is loaded after the cameras normal startup.

If you start the camera with the playback button then pressing the shutter should switch to record mode.
