On A610 in P mode when shoot half + exposure button, the left/right arrow allow to adjust Av Tv yet keeping the exposure. This allows to control depth of field etc... before shooting. This feature is not available with A540 for example. I guess that AE lock may not be available with some other Canon camera either.

It is worth to use some of the override function to allow this for those cams by using the same button sequence? Is it possible?
