Hello,
after to many hours  :( I still can not solve the problem on my Ixus 100IS (firmw. is GM1.00C) ,
everthing is OK (camera can take photo or  video via script. I can transfer images trought USB port to PC) but absolutly not functional remote control via USB (Enable Remote is ON of course)
Nothing happens if I connect USB cable  to PC or to +5V (pin 1&4).
"Usb remote status" is still "<USB>" and in Misc. Values is USB still 0
Can anybody help me ?  any idea please....?

 thanks you
S.

Are you able to transfer images when USB Remote is set to ON ?

So when you plug in the cable,  it does not do a "half shoot" (focus and set exposure) ?

Sounds like it might be a bug in the IXUS100 port ....

no (only if USB Remote is Off)

if I plug in the cable (with 5v or connected to PC) - I can focus and take photo as usually(=without plugged cable).

That's good news.  It means the CHDK is causing the Canon firmware to ignore the USB port when remote is enabled.  That part is working.

When you first plug in the cable,  does the camera appear to do a "half shoot" - does it focus ? Not because you press the shutter button.  Does just the act of plugging in the USB cable cause it to focus in Remote Enabled mode ?

camera is on (in shotting mode),CHDK is running, Enable Remote is on:  if I plug in the cable (with 5v or connected to PC (or unconnected)) - in all case nothing happen (absolutly) - in attachments are screenshots (with/without plugged cable with 5V on pin 1&4).
(remark: if I measure voltage between pin 1 and 4 /cable is plugged only in camera/ it was stable 11.7mV)

if camera is off and cable is plug in and conected to PC - after power on - is going to transfer mode (i seeing canon in PC - it is OK)

PS:Thank you for your help - myself I can not help at all

To be sure that it is not your cable that is causing the problem, try with a standard USB cable (the one that came with your camera).

thanks for the tip, but :
I tried several different cables (5)
and
at first - I measured the cable if it  is ok (I using reduction in attachment) - it was ok...

Is there any diode in the reduction ?
Test with a multimeter if the current flows in both directions.

I have no idea why you post a picture of the A to Mini B converter (do you use it?).

If you use a standard type A to Mini B cable and plug it into one of the USB ports on your computer, you should have 5V on pin 1 and 5 of the Mini B connector.

http://www.accesscomms.com.au/reference/usb.htm

That should trigger the camera and it certainly works if you use SDM on the IXUS 100.
I did not try with CHDK and I don't have the camera anymore but I would assume that it works with CHDK as well.

The camera does not provide the voltage, the PC does.

You have to measure the voltage on the connector when it is plugged into the PC.
