Hi everyone, total newbie here  :)
Just found out about this software and got on to install it but the zip files on the CHDK site lack the PS.FIR file, what am I missing here?
All I've read so far makes me believe this file is esssential.
Followed all the steps with the help of my wife, an IT specialist, but so far no dice.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey!

The PS.FIR method is a bit old, the now recommended way is to use STICK http://zenoshrdlu.com/stick/stick.html , a java application. Make installing CHDK a breeze  :P

If you know a bit of linux, you can also follow the steps on the wiki. Most important part is to make the sd card bootable and it should work.

As mentioned on the wiki and camera specific notes, SX1 is one of the few cameras for which the "firm update" doesn't work so you have to make it bootable outside the camera using one of the methods adong suggested.

Don't forget what the H stands for.
