Not directly - there is nowhere to plug one in. 

But here's something you could try.  Buy a slave trigger (there are lots of these on eBay  and every online camera store) :

What you do is use CHDK to manually control the "on camera" flash at a low level - but hopefully enough to fire this slave trigger.  The slave trigger is connect to your external flash.   Getting the right exposure will take some work with the manual settings on your flash (and maybe CHDK).   If you can't get the CHDK flash setting to work correctly,  try taping a piece of white cardboard in front of your flash so that it deflects the flash away from your subject and towards your slave trigger.  (Note : don't cut the flash off completely - there is a lot of heat there and you could cook the bulb.)

Not automatic or convenient,  but at least you can take photos of people so that they don't look like mug shots from the local police station.

Thanks waterwingz ! I just return to specify that I already have a really powerfull external flash, without lightning trigger, and you deliver a usefull answer. Thanks !

Its such a total hack that I was almost embarrassed to suggest it (although I've played with it myself).

Can you post what settings you use in CHDK and on your external flash unit for reference ?

I don't use specific CHDK settings.

My external flash has a chart (on the back) that vary upon ISO, TTL, short distance auto, long distance auto and manual, with 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and full power. With these information, I set the "f" at 1/30 sec. That's it!

The light sensor shall "see" my flash, period. I can use full internal flash power without problem, my external flash is a lot more powerfull.
